biography

  • Richard D. Ball DHSc, MPH, PAC, has 40 years of experience as a practicing physician assistant and over 20 years in academia. In his role, he monitors and assesses student educational activities during the clinical phase of the program and maintains the working relationship with healthcare facilities and providers.

    Ball’s clinical experience has been primarily in emergency medicine and international medicine while working as a government contractor with the U.S. Department of Defense. He has worked in American Samoa, Egypt, Kuwait, and Iraq. Ball also served as a U.S. Air Force Medical Corpsman during the Vietnam War.

    His prior positions included working as medical staff and faculty at UPMC Western Psychiatric Hospital and Clinic in Pittsburgh, as a neurosurgical PA at Wayne State Medical Center in Detroit, in a private family medicine practice in Ypsilanti, Michigan, and as a health inspector in Louisiana and Florida.
