biography

  • Dr. Lizzeth Alarcon M.D is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Medical Education. She completed her medical training at Boston University/Boston Medical Center where she obtained her medical degree and completed her residency in Family Medicine. Prior to joining Florida International University, she worked as an academic hospitalist and primary care physician in Boston, and she was involved in graduate medical education as an Assistant Professor of Family Medicine.

    Dr. Alarcon joined the Herbert Wertheim College of Medicine in 2022. She is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Medical Education. She enjoys teaching and sharing her clinical experience caring for communities facing health disparities. Dr. Alarcon sees patients and supervises residents in the Family Medicine Residency Program at Borinquen Medical Centers, a federally qualified health center, with the goal of providing high-quality, evidenced-based primary care services and fostering wellness in the community.

  • Dr. Alarcon's scholarly interests include medical education, health equity, full-scope family medicine education, language-concordant care, and quality improvement.
