Joining HWCOM in July 2020, Dr. Shweta Akhouri,is passionate about undergraduate and graduate medical education—teaching medical students and residents. She teaches clinical skills, case-based, and problem-based learning and serves as the Clerkship Director of Family Medicine Clerkship.
As faculty for Green Family Foundation Neighborhood Health Education Learning Program (NeighborhoodHELP), Dr. Akhouri supervises interprofessional household visits with medical, nursing, social work, and physician assistant students in underserved communities throughout Miami-Dade County.
She practices family medicine and obesity medicine, and sees patients at FIU Faculty Group Practice at the MMC campus. She is passionate about advocacy, especially for women in medicine. She currently serves the as the Regional Governor for American Medical Womens' Association.
